Barn Conversion Ensuite

The Project

This project involved transforming a dated ensuite in a stunning barn conversion in Middleton, Sutton Coldfield. The ensuite didn’t keep up with the luxurious aesthetic throughout the rest of the residence. So, inspired by the sleek aesthetic of his favourite hotel, the client wanted to elevate the space to match the high-end finish of the rest of the property. The goal was to create a sleek, masculine ensuite with modern features, clean lines and bespoke touches that added comfort and style. A standout request was integrating a TV on the wall adjacent to the shower, a unique feature that blended technology with relaxation.

The Challenge

While the size of the room was generous, working within a barn conversion brought its own set of challenges. The original ensuite had awkward angles, beams, and uneven walls typical of older structures. Access was also restricted, with larger materials needing careful manoeuvring through tight corridors and doorways. Our team had to work with precision to ensure the modern design didn’t clash with the character of the building, and to ensure all technology was seamlessly integrated without visible cabling or hardware.

The Solution

We began by completely stripping out the old en-suite and preparing the space for a full re-design. Precision was key, with all surfaces levelled and reinforced where needed. The design incorporated moody, masculine tones, with large-format tiles, sleek chrome metalwork and ambient lighting to echo the client’s hotel inspiration. We installed a waterproofed wall unit to house the TV and ensured all plumbing and electrical components were built into the walls for a seamless look. As with all our projects, every detail was handled in-house by the Bayliss Bathrooms and Kitchens team, and project managed from design and planning to installation and finishing, ensuring a beautifully cohesive result.
