Cosentino is a Spanish company that has spread around the world since their beginning as a small workshop in the 1940s. A family business passed down through the generations, innovation helped launch them to global fame with the first engineered stone. Silestone offered colour and functional design in kitchen worktops which became hugely popular in the early 1990s.
In kitchen design, the work surface is an important decision, both aesthetically and in terms of proper use. Today, Consentino operates four core brands of countertops available for UK purchase. Silestone offers low-silica surfaces composed of minerals and recycled materials for a quartz-like appearance. DEKTON provides an ultracompact porcelain-style surface that’s extremely strong. Sensa surfaces are made with natural granite and quartzite, protected with a stain-resistant coating. Finally, Scalea offers the broadest range of premium natural stone surfaces for kitchen worktops, flooring and cladding.

In 2020, Consentino introduced a new technology in Silestone’s manufacture that creates a low-silica surface, composed of recycled materials and premium minerals. The benefit of low silica is that the reduced silica dust during production is more environmentally friendly and better for the health of manufacturers. Low-silica worktops such as Silestone are highly durable, and remain stain, scratch and heat-resistant.
